Ever wondered about creating a ring tone of your favorite song that you have in your iphone? Well, you can create ring tones using your Apple iphone software. But that will cost you some money. Not just that, you might have already paid for the song also. So, it would be a double investment! The good news is that it is possible to create ring tones of songs that are in our iphone for free, which is 100% legal.

There are softwares, which you can download for free, which would allow you to do the same thing. But, creating a free ring tone using those softwares, is not something beginners like us can do. They are suited for experts who have experience dealing with such things. For the beginners, here we are sharing a method, that you can use in order to create your own free ring tone for your iphone!

The first thing that we are going to do is to note down the start and end time of the song. For the listen the song fully and decide the start and end time. Don’t exceed the maximum length which is just 39 seconds for a ring tone. Once you have decided the start and end time, go and select the song, and then right click it with your mouse. Now, choose get info. You’ll be provided with the details of the song. Goto the the options tab and then put a tick mark near the start and end time box. And enter the values that we have noted earlier.

Now go and highlight the song. Click on advanced tab and then on the option AAC Version. Sometimes you won’t be having the option in your device. If that’s the case, then you’ll have to bring it there at first. For that, you may follow this route :-
Edit > Preferences > General tab-Import Settings. From the import settings, enable AAC Version. And then do as we have said earlier.

Now, you’ll see the song which wanted to set as a ring tone with the exact duration that we wanted, in the library.

Earlier we had put a tick mark near the start and end time of the song right? Go to the same place and clear the tick mark.

Right click the file and then choose the option which would make it open in the windows explorer. The newly created file will be in the .M4R file format. Double clicking it will import the file to the ring tones folder automatically.

So, these are the steps to follow if you want to create a ring tone of a favorite song in your iphone.
